Iximché is the closest Mayan ruin to Lake Atitlan. These well preserved ruins include pyramid-temples, ball-courts, royal palaces, museum, and interpretive signs explaining the history of the site.

Day 2 − Villages around Lake Atitlan Itinerary:

San Juan La Laguna: This tiny pueblito is home to cooperatives that sell traditional textiles, paintings, weavings and other Guatemalan goodies that serve as great souvenirs. Being one of the less-visited towns around the lake, San Juan offers a more authentic, Guatemalan experience than that of nearby San Pedro or Panajachel.
Santiago Atitlán: is famous for the neighborhood house where the syncretized deity Maximón resides for the current year. home of the Cojolya Weaving Center and Museum, founded by the Cojolya Association of Maya Women Weavers. The museum shows the history, tradition, and process of backstrap-loom weaving, and the evolution of the traditional costume of the Tzutujil, the indigenous people of Santiago Atitlán.

Day 3 − Chichicastenango (Chichi) Market Visit Itinerary:
One of the largest open air markets in Guatemala, Chichi is a kaleidoscope of colors full of textiles, vegetables, fruits, and handcrafts. Next to the market is the 400 year old church of Santo Tomas, a major attraction in Chichicastenango.

Day 2 − Yaxha and Topoxte, The Mayan World Itinerary:
Travel to Yaxha to see the Maya ruins at the North Acropolis, stunning ancient roads, and an unrivaled view of the Yaxhá lagoons and jungle. This area is rich with wildlife. After lunch, you will take a boat across the lagoon to Topoxte. The structures here date to the Preclassic period. The most valuable is Temple Pyramid C, which is the last remaining Postclassic structure in Petén.
